I was sworn to protect your kingdom,
Yet it was your heart,
I found myself kneeling too.

Every night, I stand beneath your tower,
and let the moonlight remind me
of the distance between us.

You wear a crown that was never meant to be mine,
and I carry a sword,
that cannot cut through fate.

Still,
If loving you is treason,
let history carve my name beside yours.

For I would rather be
the knight who loved you once
than a king
who never knew your touch.

And if I must spend a lifetime
beneath your window,
I will.

Because even from the ground,
you are the most beautiful thing
I have ever looked up to…

FAQs

The main theme is unrequited devotion and duty versus forbidden love. It explores the quiet heartbreak of a knight who accepts his lower rank, choosing lifelong loyalty and admiration from afar over power or bitterness.
1. Contrast / Juxtaposition: Weighing the power of a king against the humble devotion of a knight, and a crown against a powerless sword. 2. Spatial Imagery: Using height and distance—the high tower/window versus the ground—to symbolize the unreachable social and emotional divide between them. 3. Paradox: Embracing the idea that committing “treason” through love is the speaker’s greatest act of honor.
